Review: Black Crab (2022)
Starring: Noomi Rapace
“Black Crab” (2022) is a chilling, post-apocalyptic thriller that grips you from the first frozen step to the final haunting decision. Set in a war-torn future, the film follows Caroline Edh (played with fierce intensity by Noomi Rapace), a former speed skater turned soldier, as she embarks on a perilous mission across a frozen archipelago during a brutal winter war. Her task: deliver a mysterious package that could end the conflict. But as the ice cracks beneath her feet—both literally and metaphorically—Caroline is forced to confront the cost of survival and the lies she’s been fed.
The cinematography is stark and beautiful, capturing the icy desolation of the Scandinavian landscape. The film’s use of silence and sound is masterful, building a tension that feels almost unbearable at times. Noomi Rapace delivers a powerful performance as a mother driven by love and desperation, anchoring the film with emotional depth amidst the chaos.

Director Adam Berg’s feature debut is visually gripping and thematically rich, exploring the blurred lines between duty, hope, and human morality. “Black Crab” doesn’t rely on flashy effects—it thrives on atmosphere, character, and a creeping dread that stays with you long after the credits roll.

It’s a bleak, slow-burn thriller that dares to ask: What would you sacrifice for peace… or for the ones you love?
