Hyena Hunter (2025) – Film Review
Hyena Hunter (2025) unleashes a relentless barrage of martial arts mayhem and jungle warfare, anchored by a brutal trio of action veterans: Scott Adkins, Gina Carano, and Tony Jaa. Directed by stunt coordinator-turned-director Isaac Florentine, this explosive survival-action thriller is a bone-cracking throwback to ’80s and ’90s action cinema—with a modern, vicious edge.
Set deep in the African wilderness, the film follows ex-special forces operative Jack Mason (Scott Adkins), hired to protect a controversial wildlife researcher (Gina Carano) investigating illegal poaching in hyena territory. When their convoy is ambushed by a ruthless paramilitary group exploiting the land for black market profit, the team is left stranded and hunted. What follows is a savage, high-stakes game of cat and mouse—where the only law is survival.

Adkins is in peak form, delivering punishing choreography and brooding charisma. Carano brings grit and physical authenticity to her role, while Tony Jaa—playing a local tracker with a personal vendetta—steals every scene with feral agility and emotional intensity.

The fight scenes are kinetic, bloody, and beautifully choreographed, blending Muay Thai, Krav Maga, and brutal gunplay. The cinematography makes the most of the wild terrain, and the practical effects give the action a raw, visceral feel. A pulsating tribal-techno score by Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL) keeps the tension simmering throughout.

Though the plot is straightforward and occasionally leans on clichés, Hyena Hunter thrives on its momentum, expert stunt work, and the sheer physical presence of its cast. It’s a film that knows exactly what it is—lean, mean, and made for fans of no-nonsense action.
